Two suspects are in jail on Thursday after a vehicle stolen during a Wednesday Kovey Street Burglary was spotted by an officer in the Impaired Driving Enforcement Unit at 1:34 am.
The officer spotted the stolen silver 2016 GMC pickup in the McDonalds parking lot on Muldoon early this morning and called for backup. Upon arrival, the additional units boxed the truck in and the three occupants were taken into custody. A search warrant was requested and granted and a search of the vehicle was carried out.
Found during the search was a handgun and ammo, as well as drug paraphernalia in two purses in the vehicle.
“The driver, 28-year-old Orcellious K. Jackson, was arrested and remanded at the Anchorage Jail on charges of Vehicle Theft I, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV, Theft II, and Misconduct Involving a Weapon II,” APD reported. When patted down during his arrest, suspected heroin would be found in Jackson’s underwear.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adversal-468×60″]
When queried as to her identity, one of the passengers, 34-year-old Tiatameka K Matthews, initially gave officers a false name and birthday but eventually provided correct information. Using that information, officers would determine that Matthews had two felony arrest warrants for failure to appear on two counts of Theft II and Criminal Impersonation. In addition, Matthews had new charges of False Information and Criminal Mischief V leveled at her.
The third person in the vehicle was not charged.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]The case of the stolen vehicle began the day before when the suspect or suspects climbed atop a vehicle, broke a window, and gained access to a home on the 7000-block of Kovey Street. Once inside, several items were stolen as well as keys for two vehicles. The keys were used to steal the two vehicles.
The second vehicle has not yet been recovered.
