A REDDI report was called in to AST at 6:30 pm on Friday reporting that a 52-year-old man had just left the scene of a verbal disturbance in Willow driving a 1990 Toyota Wagon.
Troopers responded and located the vehicle at mile 69 of the Parks Highway in Willow.
When troopers contacted the driver, identified as Willow resident Charles Vanornum, at the Willow Townsite Gas Station. The ensuing investigation would find that Vanornum had been driving the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and had been operating the vehicle with a revoked license.
Troopers would continue the investigation of Vanornum and find that he had two prior DUIs in the previous ten years, and was also the subject of an outstanding warrant for failure to comply with conditions of release for one of the previous DUIs.
Vanornum was arrested for Felony DUI, DWLR, and the outstanding warrant and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded.
Vanornum’s bail was set at $11,500 and a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.
