On Sunday, Buckland VPO contacted Alaska State Troopers to report that he had taken a Buckland resident into custody after he had assaulted a family member approximately an hour earlier.
The investigation into the incident found that on Sunday night at about 7:30 pm, 24-year-old Buckland resident Paul Brown Carter and his family was gathered around the dinner table for dinner.
During dinner, Carter had become angry with the children while eating. The anger sparked an arguement at the table and Carter got up from the table, went to the pantry and retrieved a gun. He pointed that gun at a family member, but other family members were able to take the gun away from Carter.
Carter was arrested on charges of Felony Assault III and remanded to the Kotzebue Jail.
Court records show previous assault charges against Carter, some of which involved weapons.
