During the the late evening hours of Wednesday, troopers made a traffic stop on a vehicle in Wasilla that resulted in later drug charges according to trooper dispatch.
Alaska State Troopers pulled over a vehicle on Bogard Road at approximately 8:35 pm on Wednesday night. As a result of the traffic stop, it was found that the driver, 29-year-old Wasilla resident Tia M. Petito, was driving with her license suspended. Petito was arested for Driving with License Suspended. She was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was remanded.
But, when Petito was being processed during remand, officers searched Petito and found that she had, secreted away in her clothing, several individual-sized packets of heroin and methamphetamine.
As a result of the discovery, several additional charges were leveled at Petito, she was charged with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II, two counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV, and a count of Promoting Contraband I.
Petito’s bail was set at $12,250.
