A short vehicle chase turned into a barricade situation in Wasilla on Thursday night after troopers observed a man on a want warrant dor violation of a Domestic Violence Protective Order.
Troopers, while on patrol, spotted a man that was wanted on a warrant for a DVPO at a gas station near the Church Road and the Seldon intersection at 9:55 pm on Thursday. When the man, identified as 31-year-old Edwin Stoltenberg, saw that the troopers had seen him, Stoltenberg jumped on a four-wheeler and sped away from the scene. Troopers would find out later that the four-wheeler was reported stolen.
Troopers took up pursuit, and a short time later, Stoltenberg was tracked to his residence off of Church Road. Troopers report that Stoltenberg had locked himself in the dwelling and refused to come out.
While Stoltenberg was barricaded in his home, troopers report that he was continuing to text and call the petitioner that had obtained the Domestic Violence Protective Order.
Troopers applied for and received a warrant to enter the residence. With the assistance of K-9 “Helo,” troopers entered the building and subdued Stoltenberg.
Stoltenberg was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded on charges of Eluding I, Theft II, Stalking I, Theft II, Violating a DVPO, and Warrant Arrest.
