When Shubert made his plea agreement, he admitted to using a social network to communicate with 109 others who actively traded in child pornography. In one email used in court, Shubert, prior to sending seven child porn pictures to an Alaskan resident, told the recipient, “I have some hidden camera pics….got lucky and got a cutey….wanna see? they were done by me, not off the internet….”
An investigation of Shubert’s computer and email account would reveal that he had over 800 images.
When contacted, several of the child victimss portrayed in the imagery submitted letters describing the serious harms that they had suffered from being sexually exploited.
Those letters were aknowledged when U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Burgess handed down the 15-year sentence to Shubert. Shubert is also required to submit to lifetime supervision, register as a sex offender, is not allowed to have any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18, and submit to sex offender assessment and treatment.
