Vacationing Fairbanks Man Foils Burglary

An out-of state homeowner foiled a burglary of his home on Thursday after seeing the burglary in progress on a live feed of his security system according to Alaska State Troopers.

The Fairbanks homeowner on Gilmore Trail called authorities at 2:40 pm to report that as he was watching his live feed on his security system, that he saw a late 80s Ford Sedan pull into his driveway. He informed the troopers that he did not recognize the vehicle and that he was out-of-state on vacation.

He also related to officers that he saw a man exit his vehicle, “go into his home, then exit a short time later with an armload of items,” troopers say.

Troopers immediately responded to the area and located the vehicle. They identified the driver as 37-year-old Jeremy Harshfield of Fairbanks. Harshfield was the sole occupant of the vehicle. When troopers searched the vehicle they would find that it contained several stolen items.
