A collision between a road grader and a truck took the life of the truck driver on Pittman and Edenfield Roads Friday afternoon.

Troopers were alerted at 3:30 pm and responded to the scene of the fatal accident between a pickup truck driven by Kristopher Mielke  and a John Deere grader  driven by 64-year-old  William E. Olszewski of Wasilla.

According to the trooper investigation, 42-year-old Mielke was eastbound when he crossed over the centerline into the path of the grader. He crashed head-on into the 1993 John Deere and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Mielke was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Olszewski reported wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the incident.

Mielke’s next of kin was notified. The investigation into the crash is continuing.
