Alaska State Troopers called on the Kodiak Police Department for assistance in a barricaded subject at a Kodiak apartment building during the early morning hours of Friday.
A call went in to the Alaska State Troopers at 2:56 am on Friday morning reporting a disturbance. A 31-year-old resident told troopers that her neighbor in the apartment complex, 32-year-old Billy Yovino Jr, had been banging on her door. She reported to troopers that Yovino was in possession of two firearms and was intoxicated.
Troopers state that Yovino retreated into his apartment upon their arrival and refused to come out.
Troopers called on the Kodiak Police Department for assistance negotiating with Yovino. During the negotiation process, troopers say, “Yovino admitted to being in possession of firearms and was actively consuming alcohol.” With this news, troopers evacuated seven other occupants of the apartment building, and additional troopers were called out.
Eventually, at 5:34 am, Yovino gave up peacefully. It was revealed at that time, Yovino had a .300 Win Mag rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun in his possession. As a result, Yovino was charged with two counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons IV.
During his arrest, Yovino offered to pay the arresting officer $100 to let him go, resulting in the additional charge of Bribery.
Seven counts of Reckless Endangerment were also leveled at Yovino.
Yovino was transported to the Kodiak Jail where he was remanded without bail.
