An Alaska State Trooper Special Crimes Investigation Unit investigation into sex trafficking has concluded with the arrest of 31-year-old Mark Daniel Alexander in Nevada, the trooper dispatch reports.

Investigators with the Special Crimes Unit initiated their investigation in January when an observant trooper on a “traffic contact” saw “suspicious activity” which led investigators to research data  that they accessed through a warrant search service.

Search warrants were issued and carried out on Internet-based companies as well as residences in Anchorage that resulted in evidence showing Alexander was the ringleader of, and was responsible, for a prostitution enterprise that spanned many years.

According to troopers, their investigation revealed that Alexander had recruited women from the “Lower 48” and put them to work there and in Alaska in prostitution activities.

The investigation also found that Alexander also had a commercial marijuana grow operation in his residence.

Alexander is charged with Sex Trafficking I, two counts of Sex Trafficking II and four counts of Sex Trafficking III as well as MICS IV.

During the investigation,, troopers say that Alexander fled the state and went to Las Vegas, Nevada.

The trooper dispatch reports that Henderson Police Department officers contacted and arrested Alexander on Monday.

Alexander now faces extradition to face charges, Alaska State Troopers have sent an officer to retrieve Alexander and bring him back to the state.
