Kodiak Man Sentenced to 30 Months for Coast Guard Base Assault

justiceIt was announced by the Department of Justice on Wednesday that a Kodiak man, who was involved in an assault on the Coast Guard Base in Kodiak, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

It was in mid-February, that 51-year-old Michael Ensley went to the base without authorization and then proceeded to the commissary, where he grabbed a  man there by the throat and knocked him unconscious. Then while the man was out, he straddled his unconscious victim and continued to beat him.

During the beating, the man sustained numerous facial fractures that included an orbital socket. The victim had to undergo multiple surgeries to repair the damage done to his face.

Ensley pled guilty to a single count of Assault on June 1.

He was sentenced on Wednesday by Chief United States District Court Judge Ralph R. Beistline. The judge also awarded the victim $28,000 in restitution.
