The trooper dispatch revealed today that the two men freed at gunpoint from the Pilot Station jail on Tuesday, are now back in custody and have been transported to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center where they were remanded.
Late Tuesday night, at 11:30 pm, 22-year-old Dale Fancyboy of Pilot Station went to the Pilot Station Jail armed with a shotgun and at gunpoint, freed two prisoners held there. The jail was manned by an un-armed emergency jail guard hired by the Alaska State Troopers.
Freed in the jailbreak were 19-year-old Thomas Heckman and 22-year-old Dion Joseph. Troopers revealed that “Heckman had been arrested for his involvement as an accomplice with Joseph in the theft of a vehicle, burglary, and assault. Dion Joseph was being held due to several outstanding warrants, and two previous escapes from the Pilot Station Jail.” According to online court records, Heckman had been arrested on Assault III charges and violating conditions of release.
Fancyboy was apprehended by community members prior to arrival of troopers and placed in the Pilot Station Jail, and the two freed prisoners remained at large until after troopers responded to the community on Wednesday. Three and a half hours after there arrival on Wednesday morning at 10 am, a family member brought both Heckman and Joseph to the jail and turned them over to troopers.
On-line court records show that Fancyboy had initial charging documents filed against him on January 4th and a warrant issued for his arrest on Wednesday on charges of Vehicle Theft II, Assault III and Theft II. He has since been charged with two counts of Felony Escape I, and three counts of Felony Assault III. His bail is set at $50,000 and a Court Approved Third party Custodian requirement.
Both Heckman and Joseph now have additional Felony counts of Escape I.
All three defendants were arraigned in St Marys Court this morning.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
