Troopers say “a suspect has been developed” in the art theft reported by the Alaska Marine Highway System staff in Ketchikan last year.
The ensuing trooper investigation found that the artwork, 30 signed AMHS 25th Anniversary commemorative prints by artist Bill C. Ray, valued at $3,000 disappeared from the AMHS office sometime between the end of July 2015 and late October 2015.
But, on Wednesday of this week, a staff member of the AMHS reported that the prints had been located and recovered. According to AMHS, the stolen artwork was recovered from the same office that it disappeared from over a half a year ago.
The investigation is continuing, troopers state.
