AST reports that they have arrested a suspect in an Attempted Murder case in Unalakleet after a stand-off in that community on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.
Troopers were alerted of a shot-fired incident in Unalakleet at 8 pm on Tuesday night, responded and opened an investigation. That investigation found that 45-year-old Edward Katchatag, while drinking, utilized a bolt-action rifle to shoot another man, wounding him in the arm.
Katchatag would not immediately give himself up and would hold off on being arrested standing off troopers for 10 hours. In the end, Katchatag ultimately gave himself up and was placed under arrest. He was immediately charged with Attempted Murder II, felony Assault I, Assault IV, and Misconduct Involving WWeapons II and IV.
Online court records show that Katchatag is awaiting trials on two previous assault cases in Unalakleet court.
