KETCHIKAN, Alaska-At 11:30 am,yesterday morning, the Alaska Bureau of Investigation's Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs(SEACAD) Task Force was received a report of possible drug activity between a 24-year-old Ketchikan male and a vehicle registered out of Metlakatla.

The SEACAD Task Force began looking for the vehicle, and at 3:45 pm, found the vehicle at the Alaska Marine Highway ferry terminal. Officers contacted the two occupants of the vehicle, a 29-year-old male and a 32-year-old female both from Metlakatla. They were found to be in possession of a half ounce of marijuana.

After questioning the two, it was found that they had purchased the marijuana from a 24-year-old male from Ketchikan. The marijuana was seized and the two were released.

By 5 pm, SEACAD and Alaska State Troopers proceeded to the last known residence of the male in question. When they arrived at the residence, the male was not to be found. A 46-year-old male was at the residence however and officers found a grow operation at the scene.

They found 34 plants growing at the residence as well as 17 grams of cured marijuana and six firearms.

Police forwarded a charge of Misconduct involving a Controlled Substance in the Sixth Degree to the District Attorney’s office for the two Metlakatla travelers.

Police also forwarded three counts of Misconduct involving a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree and a count of Misconduct involving a Weapon in the Second Degree to the District Attorney’s office for review against the 46-year-old man at the residence.

Although the 24-year-old male was never located, a charge of Misconduct involving a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree was forwarded as well.
