It was announced by Karen Loeffler, U.S. Attorney, that 23-year-old Fairbanks resident Jonathon "Harley" Butterfield was sentenced for his part in a Marijuana cultivation operation.
Butterfield, who is recently from Tucson, Arizona, was arrested at a cabin near Ester in March of last year when officers seized 44 marijuana plants there. He as also a part of a larger operation that was responsible for a grow operation that produced a large quantity of marijuana plants for sale.

He had been indicted along with his co-conspirators in January of 2012.
Butterfield pled guilty to one count of conspiracy as well as one count of Manufaturing Marijuana.
In U.S. District Court, Judge Ralph R. Beistline found that Butterfield had participated in cultivating more than five hundred marijuana plants in order to produce the marijuana intended for sale. The court also found that he had possessed hand guns and ammunition in connection with his commercial operation.
Butterfield was sentenced to 37 months in prison to be followed by four years of supervised release.
