On Friday night, Alaska State Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on a Chevy Blazer traveling on the Parks Highway near Church Road for a faulty headlight.

When troopers pulled the Blazer over near Wasilla at 10:45 pm, it was discovered, with the assistance of AST K-9 “Chevron,” that the driver, 37-year-old Wasilla resident Karissa Zimin was in possession of user amounts of both methamphetamine and marijuana.
In the vehicle along with Zimin, were two children under the age of six.
Zimin was charged with two counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child II, and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance VI.
Zimin was transported and remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and her bail was set at $7,500.
