Alaska State Troopers received notification of an ATV accident that occurred in the vicinity of Roslyn Beach near Chiniak at approximately 11:02 am on Saturday.
Troopers, the Kodiak Fire Department Emergency Medical Services and a Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter responded tyo the scene in Chiniak forty miles to the south of the city of Kodiak.

Several people in Chiniak assisted the troopers and EMS personnel to the scene by ferrying them to the arrea where the thirteen-year-old accident victim was located.
The trooper investigation at the scene found that the young boy received head injuries when he had an accident on the trail system that is connected to Roslyn Beach. It was found that the boy had sustained head injuries even though he had been wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
After receiving emergency medical care from the resaponding EMS personnel, the boy was transferred via HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to Providence Medical in Kodiak. He was later transferred to Anchorage to receive further treatment.
Family members were on scene and received notification of the boy’s injuries.
The investigation of the incident is continuing.
