On Tuesday night, a fatal accident occurred near Dillingham on Aleknagik Lake Road when a 2002 Dodge Durango rolled over throwing its driver from the vehicle.
At approximately 8:55 pm, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of the crash that took place near the Twin Lakes area of Dillingham.
Their investigation of the accident revealed that 29-year-old Trefon T. Angasan was traveling alone northbound at mile 17 in his Dodge Durango on Aleknagik Lake Road at a high rate of speed when his vehicle partially left the roadway.
Angasan managed to correct the vehicle and regained the road, but then the vehicle flipped and rolled over several times, tossing Angasan from the vehicle as it did so.
Angasan was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the incident and suffered serious injuries in the accident. The injuries proved fatal and Angasan was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage were notified and requested Angasan’s remains for autopsy.
Angasan’s next of kin were on the scene and were notified.
The vehicle was a total loss.
