Alaska State troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol responded to a REDDI (Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately) report of a vehicle weaving in the roadway then going into the ditch.
Troopers arrived at the scene to find the vehicle still stuck in the ditch and the driver nowhere to be found. A witness at the scene said that the driver fled the scene prior to the trooper’s arrival.
Using vehicle information, the Bureau of Highway Patrol would locate the registered owner of the vehicle and contact him at his residence.
An investigation of the incident would find that the driver, 55-year-old Allen Robert Bodfish of Wasilla had been driving under the influence of alcohol. It was also found that Bodfish had other DUIs in the previous 10 years and so was charged with Felony DUI. Court records show this is Bodfish’s second Felony DUI, the first being in 2006.
Troopers arrested Bodfish and he was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility on Felony DUI charges and his bail was set at $10,000. His vehicle was impounded at the scene.
