The investigation into the abuse of the young boy was initiated after aunts and uncles observed evidence of abuse in early March. The boy was kept from school in an effort to conceal his injuries. He was out of school beginning on February 27th, and had missed school over thirty times this year.
Troopers said in April that the severe injuries inflicted on the boy were consistant with being beaten repeatedly with a cable or lashing instrument.
