ANCHORAGE, AK. — (APTI) — Alaska Public Telecommunications, Inc., the Anchorage-based public broadcasting outlet, is rebranding to become Alaska Public Media. The campaign launches March 18 with statewide messaging on-air and off. The brand transition will be complete in late 2013.
Alaska Public Media is the parent company of KSKA FM91.1, KAKM TV and Alaskapublic.org. The company also operates the Alaska Public Radio Network (APRN) and a shared television service with KTOO-Juneau and KYUK-Bethel. Alaska Public Media and its affiliates deliver content that reaches 96 percent of Alaskans.

“Bringing together our five different brands increases our visibility and connection with Alaskans,” said Steve Lindbeck, CEO and General Manager. “Listeners, viewers and readers tell us over and over that what they expect from public media is authenticity, excellence, connection and trust. “Alaska Public Media stands for those values.”
The campaign includes a new logo design. “We wanted a new look that pays homage to Alaska and our rich history while also resonating with younger audiences,” said Lindbeck. Television, radio, print and digital messages will echo the look and feel of the new overarching brand.
Alaska Public Media was founded in 1975 as KAKM TV. In 1994, KAKM merged with KSKA public radio to form Alaska Public Telecommunications, Inc. In 2004, APRN merged with APTI. Alaskapublic.org and its community forum Town Square 49 was launched in 2011.
Alaska Public Media is the state’s largest public media company, with more than 8,500 members, 390 corporate underwriters and 250 volunteers. Alaska Public Media is located in Anchorage at 3877 University Drive.
