An Anchorage man is in jail with no bail set after troopers responded to a report of an individual shooting a handgun from a moving vehicle on Sunday afternoon.
Kenai Peninsula Highway Patrol Troopers stopped the blue convertible Ford Mustang Cobra reported in the incident just before 3 pm on Sunday at mile 20 of K-Beach Road.
Troopers contacted the driver of the vehicle, identified as 56-year-old Soldotna resident Thomas J. Northcott. He was found to be operating the vehicle with a revoked driver’s license. He was issued a misdemeanor citation for DWLR.
The trooper investigation found that it was a passenger in the vehicle that had discharged the handgun reported in the incident.
When speaking with the passenger, 37-year-old Darrel J. Shannon, of Anchorage, he was found to be in possession of the handgun while intoxicated.
Shannon was arrested on charges of Misconduct Involving a Weapon I, IV, and V. Shannon was transported to Wildwood Pretrial where he was remanded with no bail set.
The vehicle was released to a responsible driver.
