Anchorage Police Investigate Attack on Female Runner Near Bragaw and Northern Lights

Anchorage police are seeing information on a sexual assault attempt on a runner on the trail system near East High School that occurred on Wednesday evening.

An adult female reported that as she was running on the trail on Wednesday evening south of Bragaw and Northern lights, a man grabbed her from behind and attempted to overpower her.

She reports that she managed to fight off her attacker, who she described as a slim built, younger black male with short hair, in his late teens to early twenties. After fighting off her assailant, she sought the assistance of a nearby citizen. The suspect fled on foot after the incident.

Anchorage police say that they are actively investigating the attack and ask that anyone with information on the incident to please call the police department at 786-8900, or to contact Anchorage Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP. Police would like to remind citizens to use caution on recreation trails and report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
