UPDATE: Two in Custody, One Still At Large in August 14th Kidnapping Case

Following an investigation by the Anchorage Police Department, the department has obtained warrants for Kidnapping, Assault, and Sexual Assault in an August 14th case that involves three suspects in an August 14th case.

Warrants for the arrest of Jean Vagao, Serge Azede II, and William Burgess were issued on August 18th, and since that time, Jean Vagao has been arrested and jailed while police still seek Burgess and Azede, both of whom are still at large.[xyz-ihs snippet=”adsense-body-ad”]

It was on Sunday night, August 14th, according to the report, that the female victim and a friend drove to a location at Second Avenue and Bunn Street to retrieve the victim’s friend’s purse. When they arrived at the location, the victim’s friend reported that as she sat in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, a man, later identified as 18-year-old William Burgess, walked up to the vehicle, leveled a firearm at her and ordered her out of the vehicle. Burgess then drove off with the victim still in the vehicle.

At 11:41 pm that night, the victim also called police to report her abduction. she told police that after leaving the initial location, Burgess drove her to another location where they left the car and got into another vehicle occupied by 19-year-old Jean Vagao and 24-year-old Serge Azede II. Once in the vehicle, the three suspects and the victim drove to an area near Eklutna Lake. The victim reported that during the drive she had been assaulted and zip-tied.

The three suspects left the woman in the woods near the lake and drove away. She was able to free herself of the zip ties and made her way to Eklutna Lake Road where she was picked up by a passerby who called police.

Investigators say that they believe that the kidnapping was a “targeted event,” and that Burgess and the victim knew each other before-hand.

Jean Vagao has been arrested and charged with Kidnapping and Assault II. Serge Azede II has a warrant for his arrest for Kidnapping. William Burgess has a warrant issued for his arrest on charges of Kidnapping, Assault II and III as well as Sexual Assault II.

Police are still seeking the whereabouts of Azede and Burgess and believe that Burgess is now in the Fairbanks area. Azede is described as 5-foot-10 inches tall and 191 pounds, while police report that Burgess is approximately 6-foot tall and weighs 180 pounds.

UPDATE: The Fairbanks Police Department reported on Monday that William Burgess, wanted in Anchorage kidnapping case was arrested at an apartment on the 1000 block of Kellum Street on that $250,000 warrant.
