HEADQUARTERS, U.S. ARMY ALASKA, JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON – Deep-seated rivalries will play out again this year during the Army vs. Air Force hockey game in the Sullivan Arena. The two teams consist of Alaska-based Soldiers and Airmen who not only represent their units and service branches, but are also members of the Alaska community.
The game is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9, before University of Alaska Anchorage’s Military Appreciation game. The Army vs. Air Force game is free and open to the entire community.
Seats will be open on a first-come, first-served basis to the community beginning at 1 p.m. and will close when the venue is filled. This is an official Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation event and is authorized to be the place of duty for all participating and attending JBER Soldiers and Airmen.
The UAA Military Appreciation Hockey Game against the Ferris State Bulldogs of Black Rapids, Michigan will follow at the Sullivan Arena beginning at 7 p.m. Valid military ID card holders can purchase a $5 ticket for themselves and their family members or can get in free with a per person canned food item to benefit the Armed Services YMCA of Alaska.
The general public is encouraged to bring a canned food item, but will not receive a discounted ticket.
