The Warren County Sheriff’s office in Ohio apprehended a man sought by Alaska State Troopers for Attempted Murder and other charges after an August incident on Wednesday.
The Ohio authorities contacted 39-year-old Richard W. Lane at 5:30 pm on Wednesday and placed him under arrest and held him at the Warren County Jail while he awaits extradition is was reported today.
Alaska State Troopers received a report of an assault at a Willow Creek residence north of Fairbanks on August 24th, when they arrived at the residence, their investigation revealed that Lane had “forced his way into the residence and assaulted his estranged wife by strangling her four times.”
Lane had fled the scene after his wife escaped to a neighbor’s house and called 911. The case was referred to the District Attorney’s office for prosecution.
On October 23rd, a Grand Jury handed down an indictment of four counts of Assault II, Burglary I for entering the dwelling with intent to commit a crime, Attempted Murder I and violating a domestic violence restraining order.
Court records show that process has been issued on the charges but no court has been set as yet.
