PHILADELPHIA — Frequent heartburn was positively associated with cancers of the throat and vocal cord among nonsmokers and nondrinkers, and the use of antacids, but not prescription medications, had a protective effect, according to data published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.
ANCHORAGE — The Alaska Section of Epidemiology is investigating another outbreak of Campylobacter infection associated with the consumption of raw milk. This new outbreak is associated with raw milk distributed by the same Kenai Peninsula cow-share program that was linked to a Campylobacter outbreak sickened at least 31 people in February 2013.
The Justice Department announced on Friday that as the result of a Homeland Security Investigation, a Grand Jury indicted a 61-year-old resident of Montrose, Colorado on one count of making a false statement to the United States and one count of Perjury. Both of those charges are felonies.
