Four children escaped injury while the driver was transported to the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital after he complained of hip pain after the accident at 9:54 pm on Wednesday night.
According to the trooper report, 58-year-old Chitna resident Daniel Stevens was traveling southbound on the Richardson Highway in a 2008 Toyota Tundra when he swerved to avoid hitting a moose at mile 215.
After colliding with the guardrail at that location, the vehicle left the roadway and slid down the embankment before colliding with a levy next to the creek system.
The four juveniles, reported as the driver’s grandchildren, as well as the driver, reported wearing their seat-belts. The four juveniles escaped injury.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
