KODIAK, Alaska — A Coast Guard Air Station MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew medevaced a 47-year-old male from the 422-foot tanker Murray Star which was more than 500 miles southwest of Kodiak Thursday.
Coast Guard District 17 watchstanders received a call from the Maltese-flagged tanker crew at 9:14 a.m. reporting a crewmember who was found unconscious and required medical assistance.
The helicopter crew flew 345 miles to Sand Point where they refueled before continuing onto the Murray Star. They arrived on scene at 4:15 p.m. safely hoisting the patient and flew back to Sand Point.
Upon returning to Sand Point they transferred the man to LifeMed commercial medical services who took him to Anchorage for further medical treatment.
