LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA-The verdict was read yesterday in the case of Michael Jackson's doctor. Dr. Conrad Murray, age 58, sat quietly in a gray suit and blue tie as the verdict was read from the 7 man, 5 woman jury. He was found guilty of one felony count of involuntary manslaughter concerning the death of the music superstar.

The judge in the case can sentence Murray on a broad range of time in the case. It can be anywhere from simple probation to four years in prison for Jackson’s death.

But, within minutes of the guilty verdict, the judge in the case, Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor, ordered Murray held until his sentencing date of November 29th of this year. “Dr. Murray’s reckless conduct in this case poses a demonstrable risk to the public,” Pastor said. “Public safety demands that he be remanded into custody.”

This move on the judges part makes it extremely likely that Murray will be sentenced to time rather than probation. Defence lawyer, Mark Geragos said on the subject, “If I’m a betting man I bet he gets the whole four years.” Murray seemed surprised when he was handcuffed and led from the courtroom.

The defense asserted in the case that Jackson administered the fatal dose of Propofol, the jury rejected that notion and found that Murray had acted with criminal negligence and that negligence was a significant factor in the singer’s death in 2009.

The jury took 9 hours to reach a verdict in the 23-day trial.
