Tired of covering the big box stores on Black Friday? Do a ‘buy local’ story instead.
What: Crafts Weekend, featuring Alaska-made gifts from nearly 50 Alaskan artists
When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23-24
Noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25
Where: Anchorage Museum, 625 C St.
Crafts Weekend is Alaska’s premier juried crafts show, meaning artists must apply and be selected to sell their work during this event.
At Crafts Weekend you’ll find dozens of unique, handmade art objects that tell Alaska stories, including: Tiles made from Cook Inlet clay by Ed Mighell. Whimsical black-and-white pottery by Wendy Gingell. Sculptural scarves by K.C. Lowe that are so dramatic, you’re not sure if should wear them or hang them on the wall.
This event is a major source of income for participating local artists. A portion of each sale helps support the Anchorage Museum.
Museum general admission is free during Crafts Weekend.
