Alaska State Trooper dispatch revealed today that a small child had died while at Providence hospital in apparent complications from injuries.

The toddler, 22-month-old Charles Gross began experiencing breathing difficulties while at home in the community of Delta Junction on Monday afternoon.

Alaska State Troopers were notified at 3:05 pm that Charles was taken to the community clinic, by that time, his condition had worsened. The child was transported to Providence hospital in Anchorage, where his condition continued to deteriorate. It was reported that the young child died while at the hospital on Wednesday.

It was found that the child had been involved in an ATV accident a few days prior to the incident. It was also related that the child had experienced breathing dificulties immediately after the accident, but as time progressed, seemed to be improving.

Next of kin have been notified and the investigation continues.
