Elderly Akiachak Woman Dies in Four-Wheeler Collision, Driver Arrested on Manslaughter Charges

sw-justiceRAWA late night ATV accident took the life of an elderly Akiachak woman on Friday when she was involved in a collision with a 25-year-old driver, the troopers reported Monday.

76-year-old Ruth Lomack died at the community’s clinic shortly after the incident.  Troopers in Bethel were notified of the incident at 12:50 am on Saturday morning.

25-year-old Katherine Noatak was also injured in the collision, and was medevaced to Bethel for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

On Tuesday, Noatak was arrested and charged with Manslaughter and DUI. She was remanded to Bethel’s Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center with no bail set.
