Two people were arrested on the Parks Highway for several charges that included theft, burglary and escape on Saturday morning.
Multiple moving violations prompted troopers to pull over a 2004 Mercedes Sedan at 1:44 am on Saturday morning.
When stopped, the driver of the vehicle provided troopers with a false name, but their investigation revealed his name as 31-year-old Anchorage resident Thomas Terwilliger. Troopers quickly found that Terwilliger had an outstanding warrant in the amount of $5,000 for Escape II.
It was further determined that a passenger in the vehicle, 38-year-old Theresa Maule, had stolen the vehicle that the two were in. The vehicle had been stolen from a estranged family member who had died the previous day.
As the troopers continued their investigation, it was found that the two had burglarized the deceased person’s residence and had the stolen items in the vehicle.
Troopers arrested Terwilliger for the outstanding felony warrant, Burglary I, and False Information.
Maule was arrested on charges of Vehicle Theft I, Burglary I, and Hindering Prosecution I.
“Both Terwilliger and Maule were remanded into the custody of the Mat Su Pretrial Facility where they were held without bail.
