On Wednesday, Alaska State Troopers recovered a 2017 Dodge Durango that had been reported stolen from a residence on Charlotte Lane in Fairbanks after investigators discovered the vehicle was being advertised online for sale as parts.
Troopers contacted Fairbanks resident 37-year-old Dustin Deals, who was listed as the seller, Dusty Deals on Facebook’s Free, Buy Sell, or Trade. It was confirmed that the vehicle identification number (VIN) matched a Dodge Durango that had previously been reported stolen.
The vehicle had been heavily dismantled, with numerous parts removed. During the investigation, Deals provided conflicting explanations as to how the stolen vehicle was found on his property. He also admitted to having sold parts from the vehicle but had made no effort to contact the registered owner or notify law enforcement after obtaining it.
Deals was arrested and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on charges of Theft II and Criminal Mischief III.
Photos of other parts and items he has for sale can be seen on the FB group.
