Alaska State Troopers arrested a Fairbanks woman on Sunday morning on charges of DV Assault IV x2, Weapons Misconduct IV, and DUI, at an RV park in Anderson after a caller reported a disturbance there.
Troopers responded to the scene at 3:05 am on Sunday and conducted an investigation into the disturbance. Their investigation revealed that early Sunday morning, 27-year-old Cynthia Nelson of Fairbanks, had been drinking and wanted to drive a four-wheeler at the park. When her friends refused to allow her to drive the ATV because she was intoxicated, Nelson got upset.
Nelson found keys to a truck and drove to a family member’s home nearby. Those family members took the keys from her and refused to allow her to drive any further. Once again upset, Nelson assaulted the family members and left the home on foot.
Nelson returned to the RV park where she retrieved a handgun from her RV. She brandished the weapon at other campers until the other campers were able to take control of the weapon and detain Nelson until troopers arrived at the scene.
Troopers arrested Nelson and transported her to Fairbanks where she was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.
