On Thursday evening, while Alaska State Troopers were at the Fawn Mountain Elementary School in Ketchikan, they identified 30-year-old Ketchikan resident Jason Simpson, who was known to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
A petition to revoke Simpson’s probation on the original charge of Burglary II was filed on November 25th and a warrant was issued the next day in the amount of $5,000.
As troopers approached Simpson to place him under arrest, Simpson broke and ran, fleeing on foot.
On scene was a off-duty Forestry Law Enforcement officer as well as an off-duty VPSO, the two assisted troopers with the fleeing suspect in the school parking lot. After a brief struggle, Simpson was subdued and arrested on the warrant.He was also charged with probation violation and resisting arrest.
After his arrest, Simpson was found to have a switchblade in his possession as well as drug paraphrenalia. As a result, Simpson was further charged with Misconduct Involving Weapons IV and V.
Simpson was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center where he was held without bail.
