Four men from South-central Alaska have been charged with illegal take, possession and transport of two bull moose that were taken in the Denali National Park in September of 2012.

55-year-old Charlie Hart, 33-year-old Deric Hart, both of Anchorage, 58-year-old James Riggs of Wasilla and Homer resident 29-year-old Michael Barth were all charged with violations of the Lacey Act As well as Unlawful Take and Possession of Wildlife in a National Park.

The four men, according to U.S. Attorney Steven Skrocki, who presented the case to the Grand Jury, went on an illegal hunt in the Denali National Park beginning on September 3, 2012 and continued their hunt through to September 7th, 2012 and during that time took two bull moose in the park.

During the investigation, investigators would also discover an illegal silencer during a search of Rigg’s Wasilla home. As a result, Riggs was indicted for possession of the unregistered silencer in a separate case.
