rural trooperWith temperatures dipping to almost -30 degrees F, a Northwest Arctic Borough Village Public Safety Officer in Shungnak received a call-in of a female lying motionless in the snow.

The officer responded to the area near the Shungnak Post Office to find a Shungnak resident, 38-year-old Elaine Tickett highly intoxicated and unable to stand in the frigid weather at 1 pm on Monday.

Tickett was retrieved from the below freezing conditions, but was also arrested after the incident for Violating her Conditions of Release for a conviction of Bringing Alcohol into a Dry Area in 2014. Tickett was out on release and had yet to serve her jail time in that case. According to court documents, Tickett is to immediately serve her sentence for the 2014 conviction.

Tickett was transported by Alaska State Troopers to the Kotzebue Regional Jail where she is currently in custody awaiting court Wednesday afternoon.
