Glenn Highway Crash Takes the Lives of Two Wasilla Motorcyclists

image30-06-2014 08.34.58A Friday night crash on the Glenn Highway took the lives of two motorcyclists and injured two in a vehicle troopers report.

Alaska State Troopers responded to a crash involving two men on motorcycles and the driver and passenger of a 2001 Honda Odyssey at 10:55 pm on Friday night. 

When troopers arrived at the scene and conducted their investigation, they say that 21-year-old Adam Johnson and 21-year-old David Hecker, both of Wasilla, were driving northbound on the highway near mile 37.5 with a group of other motorcycles at a high rate of speed, when they encountered the Odyssey and crashed into it as it was traveling southbound.

Both Johnson and Hecker died and were declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Odyssey, 35-year-old Ohio resident, Lance Shepard, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported for treatment of his injuries. His passenger suffered life-threatening injuries, and was transported via LifeMed to the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for treatment. 

The State Medical Examiner in Anchorage took possession of Hecker’s and Johnson’s remains for autopsy. Their next of kin were notified.

Troopers are continuing their investigation into the incident and are asking any witnesses who observed the incident to call them at 907-352-5401.
