On Wednesday night, at approximately 11:55 PM, the Alaska State troopers stopped in 1997 Ford Explorer on the Richardson Highway near mile 114.
After contacting the individuals in the vehicle, the trooper investigation at the scene found that the driver, a 16-year-old resident of Glennallen, was driving without a license and was subsequently issued a summons for No Vehicle Operators License as well as for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV.
Further investigation found that the juvenile’s mother, 31-year-old Christina Young, also of Glennallen, had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle and so was issued a citation for Open Container. She was also issued a citation for No Proof of Insurance. In addition, Young was issued a summons for Permitting an Unauthorized Person to Drive.
Troopers also contacted another juvenile passenger in the vehicle and that juvenile was identified as a runaway. As a result the Office of Children’s Services was notified.
Another adult passenger in the vehicle was contacted as well. That person, 31-year-old Tazlina resident Rachel Ewan was found to be in violation of felony probation and was subsequently arrested and transported to the Alaska state trooper Glennallen post where she was remanded pending arraignment.
The 1997 Ford Explorer was impounded.
