A REDDI report was called in on Friday evening after a vehicle left the roadway and drove into the yard, causing approximately $400 worth of damage at a residence on the 300 block of the South Tongass Highway in Ketchikan.
During his incursion into the yard, the driver of the vehicle left behind portions of the rear cargo and front bumper in the yard before leaving the area.
Troopers responded and began their search for the vehicle. The search was very brief. Troopers found the vehicle stopped on the 2700 block of the South Tongass Highway. The vehicle was undriveable due to having a buoy line wrapped around the rear axle.
Troopers contacted the driver of the silver Mazda B4000 pickup and identified him as 25-year-old William Rivera of Saxman.
Their investigation revealed that Rivera was driving intoxicated and without a valid license. Rivera was also found to lack the required insurance and was in violation of his conditions of release on an unrelated matter. Rivera was also found to have a firearm in the vehicle while intoxicated.
When asked to do so, Rivera refused to submit to a PBT as well.
Rivera was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center and remanded there on charges of DUI, Misconduct Involving a Weapon IV. Criminal Mischief IV, and Violating Conditions of Release.
