On Sunday night troopers attempted to stop a 1999 Subaru Legacy for a moving violation only to have the driver bail from the vehicle.
Troopers report that at 9:21 pm on Sunday night they tried to pull over a vehicle, but the driver of the vehicle, identified as 29-year-old Jordon Melton, jumped from the moving vehicle and fled on foot in an attempt to evade the troopers.
During his getaway attempt, Melton fought with the pursuing trooper, injuring him before being subdued and arrested.
An investigation into Melton’s criminal history would find that Melton was wanted on a $25,000 felony arrest warrant for charges of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II, III, I, and five counts of MICS IV.
The investigation also found Melton to be in possession of a mobile meth lab, as well as more controlled substances.
Melton was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and remanded there for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in 2nd Degree, Assault in the 4th Degree on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest and the outstanding warrant.
He is currently being held without bail.
The trooper was treated at the Mat-Su Regional Hospital for minor injuries and released.
