KILLEN,TEXAS-Waco's Federal Magistrate Jeffery C Manske Could today will see the case of Private First Class Naser Jason Abdo today at 11am. Abdo is the AWOL Fort Campbell soldier who was apprehended in his hotel room "cooking" explosives Wednesday. He intended to use his brutal concoction in a terror attack on other soldiers stationed in Fort Hood, Texas.

Abdo was arrested as a result of a tip off from the local gun-shop, Guns Galore. Greg Ebert, the tipster, a retired police officer who works at the store, alerted authorities after selling Abdo six pounds of gunpowder, a pistol magazine and shotgun shells.

Ebert, who retired last year after 17 years on the Killeen police force, said he was alerted when Abdo started asking so many questions about the gunpowder and its properties while making the purchase of such a large quantity. He said, “That is a red flag for me. He should know. Why is he buying that much?”

After leaving in a cab, Abdo next went to a local military surplus store, according to police, where he purchased uniforms with Fort Hood unit patches attached.

Abdo was arrested at the America’s Best Value Inn on South Fort Hood Street on a child pornography warrant, he had broken into an adjoining room, this was where he was “cooking” his explosive mixture. The room and his backpack were searched. Sugar, shrapnel, gunpowder, shotgun shells, a pressure cooker, christmas lights and battery operated clocks were found. Investigating officials say there were enough ingredients to make two bombs.

According to an alert issued by the U.S. Army, Abdo had planned on using these bombs to stage an attack on a local restaurant frequented by Fort Hood soldiers. He intended to set off the bombs then re-enter the building to continue killing survivors after the detonation.

There are indications that the government plans to take this case to court rather than the military.

Daryl Fields, Spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office in San Antonio says that Mark Frazier, Waco’s Chief U.S. Attorney will present the government’s case against Abdo.
