Nenana Man Shot during Protective Order Violation, Then Indicted

A Nenana man was indicted on a half a dozen charges and charged with additional misdemeanors following a Tuesday incident where he violated a Domestic Violence Protective Order and was shot in the process, troopers reported on Sunday.

According to the report, 41-year-old Charles Scott Stevens of Nenana trespassed on property that he was prohibited from entering as the result of a DVPO. The report went on to say that Stevens entered the property of an estranged girlfriend and damaged the property, the woman’s vehicle and also injured her pet.

Troopers said that Stevens suffered “gunshot wounds” during the incident. Stevens was taken to the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Following his release from the hospital the next day, he was arrested for the violation of the Domestic Violence order.

The District Attorney took the case to the Grand Jury on the 23rd and the jury handed down an indictment of Stalking I, Burglary I,Assault II, Assault III, and two counts of Criminal Mischief III. Other misdemeanor charges were leveled at Stevens as well.
