Anchor Point-based Alaska State Troopers responded to a Ninilchik assault scene after receiving a report of a victim bleeding profusely on the roadway there at 10:59 am on Thursday.
When troopers arrived at the scene and began their investigation, they contacted a 33-year-old female, identified as Ninilchik resident Maranda L. Moore. They would find that initially, Moore assaulted a household member with her fists, then got a metal broom and struck the victim several more times over the head, causing serious injuries. The victim required immediate medical attention and so was transported to a local hospital by EMS.
During the course of the investigation, troopers were assisted by the Alaska Bureau of Investigations.
Witnesses at the scene reported to troopers that Moore altered the interior of the residence and also used bleach to clean up blood at the crime scene before troopers arrived, troopers said in the trooper dispatch.
It was also found that Moore broke several items during the altercation and in her attempts to clean up the scene afterward.
As a result of the investigation, Moore was arrested on charges of Assault I, Assault IV, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Criminal Mischief IV, all DV charges.
Moore was transported to Homer where she was remanded to the Homer Jail pending arraignment.
