In an investigation that is still continuing by the Alaska Bureau of Investigations, the names of the officers involved in the May 24th shootout where no one was hit or injured have been released.
On May 24th, two uniformed Alaska State Troopers, Trooper Jason Hennessey and Trooper Melvin Colley of the Fairbanks post, responded to a report of a disturbance on Madcap Lane in Fairbanks.
When they arrived at the area, they determined that the source of the disturbance was 75-year-old Stanley Pieniazek also of Fairbanks. The two troopers called out to Pieniazek, who was in his camper, he would not respond. One of the troopers tried to contact Pieniazek inside his camper, Pieniazek produced a handgun and pointed it at the trooper. The trooper, using good judgement removed himself and withdrew.

After consulting with the District Attorney’s Office, Pieniazek was arrested and transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center where he is currently being held on $250,000 bail and charged with two counts of Assault in the Third Degree.
As per department policy, the names of the two officers involved in the shootout were with-held for a period of three days.
The investigation into the incident continues.
