One Arrested, another Charged during Ketchikan Welfare Check

DUI_Patrol_02On Monday evening, Ketchikan-based Alaska State Troopers received a request for a welfare check on a male who was in the area of the Carlanna Lake trailhead, the caller reported that the subject of the call “could hardly walk.”

When troopers responded to the area, they “located a male lying on the ground who was heavily intoxicated by alcohol and had minor injuries that appeared to be from fallen down,” the trooper dispatch revealed.

As a result of their discovery, troopers requested assistance from the Ketchikan Fire Department. KFD responded and transported the 18-year-old male to the hospital.

Troopers would find that the male was intoxicated and also find that he was on conditions of release to not consume alcohol. Troopers forwarded charges to the District Attorney’s office.

While responding to the welfare check, troopers would make contact with a 2-year-old woman, identified as Jessica Watson. She would be found to have been driving under the influence, with no insurance or driver’s license.

Watson was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center and charged with DUI, Open Container, Failure to Show Proof of Insurance and No Valid Driver’s License.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
