Last week on Wednesday, at about 12 noon, Alaska State Troopers were notified that the "Gas Station" was burglarized.
The “Gas Station” or the Pilot Station Incorporated Store was broken into sometime previous to Wednesday. Burglars took several items off of the shelves. They also stole the new safe recently purchased by the store. The safe was bolted down in an effort to discourage its theft.
Unfortunately, the burglars did not give the store time to begin using their new safe. When the burglars took the safe, it was empty and unused.
Pilot Station is a commercial fishing community of roughly 580 people located on the Northwest bank of the Yukon River. Pilot Station is approximately 11 miles east of Saint Marys.
The investigation continues.
